Magic Mike and the female Christian's response to sex.

Matthew Mcconaughey will take his shirt off.

It happens in all his movies.

At some point that shirt is coming off and when it does, all the dudes in the theater will immediately start pouting about how one of Matthew's 100 abs can beat up our one pack stomachs.

Hey Matt, thanks a lot for making the other un-chiseled 3 billion men on earth feel like slobs. At least this time, with Magic Mike, we know it's coming.

For those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, Magic Mike is a new movie about male strippers starring, you guessed it.. Matthew Mcconaughey.

I have nothing against Matthew Mcconaughey (except that I have to google the correct spelling of his last name). I am however though curious about the female Christian's response to Magic Mike

The other day I saw some “innocent” nonchalant comments from female friends on Facebook about how many “good looking” men are in that movie.

Needless to say, I was surprised at how easy it was to say something like that and I did wonder what would happen if the scripts were flipped.

Imagine with me for a second that there was a movie about female strippers and some dude in your bible study tweeted about how many good looking hotties are in that movie.

Blocked. Unfriended. Report for spam. Thunder, lightening and laser fires from eyes. Black listed from all single Christian women circles.

No soup grace for you. Come back one year.

Or never.

I know, I know, men are the ones obsessed with sex. Men are the ones who are perverts. Men are the ones who watch porn. Women can watch that stuff and not be affected.

I get it. I've heard that my whole life but honestly, I'm not sure if I buy it anymore because almost every time (and I mean almost) I write a post challenging men in the area of sexuality, I get emails from women asking....

What about us women? I'm addicted too. We struggle too. We are obsessed with sex too. How come no one talks about that? What about my story?

You honestly would be shocked at how many such emails I get it. I know I'm shocked AND confused.

If this is such a big issue, how come no one really talks about it? And why does there seem to be a double standard?

Why can Christian women freely yell at the roof tops that they are going to watch a movie about male strippers while men have to dip their elbows in boiling grease if they admit merely thinking someone is 'hot'?

How come women who read erotic romantic books are just curious readers while men who buy ESPN magazine swimsuit edition are big pervs?

Please don't miss the point. I'm not defending men. I'm not even comparing the two "struggles" . How could I really? I'm a dude. I feel so inadequate writing stuff like this (which is why I've always just stuck to challenging guys). Plus I don't know how women think or what women want.

But I do know a double standard when I see one and I am concerned about the women who are getting crushed by this elephant in the room.

All those emails I get, you know what they are really saying?

Will you please expose the elephant in the room so I can find help? Will someone please challenge us too? Help us too? Will you please stop making it so easy for me to destroy my life?

Sad :(.

Very sad indeed, because the only thing that might be harder than fighting for purity in this sexualized culture is...

* if its taboo to talk about your fight and struggle because of your gender.
* If most slippery slopes are free game.
* If you can go watch a movie about strippers and no one bats an eye.

Maybe I'm way off. Maybe plenty of women are appalled by Magic Mike. Or maybe it's totally not the same for guys and girls. I don't know. What I do know though is if the emails I get are any indication, we need to start saying more than “females, please dress modestly”.

What do you think?

Do you see a double standard or can most women really watch a movie about male strippers and NOT be affected? Other thoughts?

Also, are you planning on seeing Magic Mike?
